The History of Camrose Parish/Community Council
Local government as we know it came to Camrose Parish Shortly after the passing of the local government act of 1894. overseers, presumably appointed by the government caused notices to be displayed in the various places of worship in the area announcing that a parish meeting would be held at North School (then known as the North Board School) on Tuesday 14th December, 1894, for the purpose of electing parish councillors. Seventy two people turned up, and the first item on the agenda the election of a Chairman, was quickly disposed of, the local schoolmaster, Mr. William Fry, being the unanimous choice. Nominations were then invited for membership of the first Parish Council, and fourteen names were submitted for eleven seats, which it was decided, should constitute the Council.
Voting resulted in the following being elected :-
Ernest Ince Allen - Camrose House
John Davies - Crowhill
William Hancock - Little Robleston
Alfred Jones - Pelcomb
John Marr - Robleston (Vice Charman)
Thomas Mathias - Camrose
R.P.L. Penn - Camrose House (Chairman)
It was agreed that the Chairman be the Clerk of the Council and that Mr Fry be the Treasurer.
Overseer of the poor was also appointed:-

Assistant Overseer, Price Thomas
Parish replaced by Community councils In Wales, parish councils were replaced by community councils in 1974 as part of a broader local government reorganization. This change was mandated by the Local Government Act 1972. The new community councils were designed to be the lowest level of local government in Wales, mirroring the role of parish councils in England.
Lambston parish was merged with the Camrose Community Area in 1987 by the 1987 Preseli (Communities) order. This merger involved a change in administrative boundaries.
